Plot Synopsis

Eight of America's top noodling teams, each one representing a different state, contend with the elements and faulty equipment, as they compete against each other in a bracket-style competition to determine a champion. In each 60-minute episode, four teams apply their regional skills to a four-heat competition in Texas noodling. Two winning teams advance from each of the first two episodes to participate in the finals, where they try to win the Catfish Cup. Noodlers participating in the tournament include the following teams: Team Tennessee, a three-man team that has developed a strategy of fishing concrete structures for big cats in their home state; Team Kentucky, two best friends who have been working together for years in the streams and lakes of The Bluegrass State; Team Louisiana, a two-man team, Stewart and Benny, who noodle high-risk waters for high catfish rewards; Team North Carolina, a two-man team of brothers, Fred and Lee, who know how to block, push and catch catfish in any condition; Team Mississippi, three good-ole' boys, who are used to fishing muddy riverbanks and will have to adapt to a new environment; Team Alabama, a two-man team who do their own research prior to hitting the water; Team Texas, a two man team of brothers, Ronald and Greg, who have been fishing the lakes of East Texas for years; and Team Arkansas, a three-man team that has developed a precise technique -- Chris finds the fish, Brad locks the holes, and Big John uses his muscle to pull the catfish from the water. The show's host, Texas native Brady Knowlton, also hosted HILLBILLY HANDFISHIN' WORLD SERIES, an Animal Planet series that aired late 2012.
