Plot Synopsis

Designer/builder Paul 'Paulie' DiMeo and master fabricator Pat 'Tuffy' Bakaitis run a cabin-building business, which strives to keep costs low by requiring the landowner to gather friends and family to help construct the building in one week. Paulie, who made his name on EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION, is a city boy at heart; meanwhile, Tuffy is a gruff, logical woodsman who has never heard of Starbucks. Each finished cabin is a backwoods paradise that defies the odds: a cabin converted from an old school bus, a snowboarder's getaway at the top of a mountain, and a cabin that rotates 360 degrees to maximize both sunrise and sunset views. In each 60-minute episode, the Cabin Kings work with a different client, including: farmer Mike Carney, who wants an ancient barn transformed into a lodge that sleeps 12 people; an ex-Navy SEAL, who wants to build multiple camps to accommodate all his friends and families; Pat and Ryan Sweeney, owners of a father-and-son logging business, who want a cabin constructed entirely of materials found on the property; and many more people who want a home built in the wilderness.

Nat Geo premiered the second season of BUILDING WILD on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Tailgating Paradise," the Cabin Kings tackle their largest-ever build -- a 1,350-square-foot cabin at the top of a mountain for a larger-than-life New York Jets fan. Their client, Sean Winters, wants a place where he and his team of family and friends can tailgate during Jets away games and enjoy his massive property's 17 miles of trails on their ATVs and snowmobiles. To keep costs low, Tuffy will repurpose one of Sean's old 7-ton compacting dumpsters as an ATV garage, and Paulie will snag two fallen trees from Sean's land to turn into a dining table fit for a king that seats 30. Later in the season, Paulie and Tuffy struggle to build a mountaintop cabin over a waterfall for their clients, Jamie and April, as they repurpose materials for the cabin from Jamie's sign business -- steel beams into a foundation, 10-foot-high glass doors into windows and an old refrigerator box truck into a master bedroom.
