Plot Synopsis

BREAKING POINTE is a reality series that goes behind the scenes at Salt Lake City's elite Ballet West, one of the most competitive ballet companies in the country, to reveal the beauty and grace of the world's preeminent dance form -- as well as this world's dark side. Beneath the beauty and glamour of the dance and costumes is a gritty dog-eat-dog world of extreme athleticism, focus, dedication, passion, pressure and, of course, the hunt for the unattainable -- perfection. Plus, this series also reveals the jealousy, competition and intensity that exist behind the scenes at a professional ballet company, where dancers have the toughness of linebackers, punishing their bodies to achieve perfection and dancing through injuries and pain, and the savvy of politicians, navigating the complicated social politics inside the company to get the best roles. Led by Artistic Director Adam Sklute -- a former dancer and Associate Director of The Joffrey Ballet -- Ballet West and Ballet West II's company of 48 dancers includes: Principal Artists Michael Bearden, Christiana Bennett, Katherine Lawrence & Christopher Rudd; Soloists Tom Mattingly & Ronnie Underwood; Demi-soloists Allison DeBona, Sayaka Ohtaki & Rex Tilton; and Artists Beckanne Sisk, Kathleen Martin & Ronald Tilton.
