Plot Synopsis

BREAKING POINTE is a reality series that goes behind the scenes at Salt Lake City's elite Ballet West, one of the most competitive ballet companies in the country, to reveal the beauty and grace of the world's preeminent dance form -- as well as this world's dark side. Beneath the beauty and glamour of the dance and costumes is a gritty dog-eat-dog world of extreme athleticism, focus, dedication, passion, pressure and, of course, the hunt for the unattainable -- perfection. Plus, this series also reveals the jealousy, competition and intensity that exist behind the scenes at a professional ballet company, where dancers have the toughness of linebackers, punishing their bodies to achieve perfection and dancing through injuries and pain, and the savvy of politicians, navigating the complicated social politics inside the company to get the best roles. Led by Artistic Director Adam Sklute -- a former dancer and Associate Director of The Joffrey Ballet -- Ballet West and Ballet West II's company of 48 dancers. Featured dancers include returning favorites Principal Christiana Bennett, First Soloist Ronnie Underwood and Demi-Soloists Allison DeBona, Rex Tilton and Beckanne Sisk. The new dancers joining them for Season 2 include Corps Artist Joshua Whitehead, Guest Dancer Silver Barkes and Ballet West II dancers Zachary Prentice and Ian Tanzer. Also returning is Principal Christopher Ruud in his new role as Artistic Director of Ballet West II, a two-year training program for young dancers aspiring to dance professionally in the main company. Season 2 premiered on Monday, July 27, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW.
