Plot Synopsis

Professor Stephen Hawking and the world's leading scientific figures -- including Sir David Attenborough, Richard Dawkins, Aarathi Prasad, Lord Winston and Maggie Aderin-Pocock -- explore scientific breakthroughs that are transforming our lives in the 21st century. This series is comprised of five, 60-minute episodes, including: "Machines," in which the team reveals a new generation of machines made possible by breakthroughs in technology and engineering; "Health," during which the experts examine how scientists are battling the world's big killer diseases; "Technology," where the team explores how 21st-century technology is shaping our future by changing the way we live and the way we communicate; "Environment," in which science battles the elements and mankind to save our planet and preserve the human race; and "Biology," during which the experts unearth amazing breakthroughs that are transforming the resilience and strength of the human body. Science Channel aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 10pm ET/PT.

On Monday, April 21, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, Science Channel broadcast the U.S. premiere of the second season of BRAVE NEW WORLD. In the Season 2 opener, Hawking and his team examine inventions that will change how humans deal with crises in the future, including a Boston Dynamics' LS3 and Atlas, Gecko Skin Adhesion, and Pathogen Scanner.
