Plot Synopsis

Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book series of the same name, THE BOYS is a superhero drama series that explores what happens when superheroes -- who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods -- abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought -- the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets. When Hughie suffers a devastating loss at the hands of a reckless Supe, his devastation turns to outrage when he discovers there is no legal recourse for victims of collateral superhero damage. While still reeling from his trauma, Hughie meets a mysterious operative, Billy Butcher, who recruits him to join in his pursuit of some vigilante justice against the Supes -- who are not exactly what they seem. Executive produced by Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg, THE BOYS premiered on Amazon Prime on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT.

Amazon Prime Video premieres the eight-episode second season of THE BOYS on Friday, September 4, 2020 with the first three episodes. New episodes will be available each Friday following, culminating in an epic season finale on October 9. The even more intense, more insane Season 2 finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie, Mother's Milk, Frenchie and Kimiko try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront, a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation's paranoia. The Supes of The Seven also include Queen Maeve, A-Train, The Deep, and Black Noir. Recurring stars in Season 2 include Claudia Doumit, Goran Visnijc, Malcolm Barrett, Colby Minifie, Shantel VanSanten, Cameron Crovetti, PJ Byrne, Laila Robbins and Giancarlo Esposito returning as Vought boss Stan Edgar, among others.

On Monday, August 17, 2020, Amazon Prime Video announced that Jensen Ackles will be joining the cast of the hit series THE BOYS for Season 3. The casting news was made on Ackles' social media account. Ackles will portray Soldier Boy -- the original Superhero. After Soldier Boy fought in World War II, he became the first super celebrity, and a mainstay of American culture for decades. Showrunner and Executive Producer of THE BOYS Eric Kripke stated, "When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream -- to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I'm happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he'll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can't wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of SUPERNATURAL to THE BOYS." The pick-up of Season 3 of THE BOYS was announced during their SDCC panel on July 23.
