Plot Synopsis

Hosted by singer Rita Ora, BOY BAND is a one-hour reality series that searches for undiscovered young male vocalists from around America, who battle it out to become a member of the next great music sensation: the next great boy band, who receives a recording contract with Hollywood Records. At the start of the season, thousands of talented singers audition for one of 18 spots in three bands and will need to impress architects Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys), Emma Bunton (Spice Girls) and super producer Timbaland in hopes of evading elimination. Once they have proven that they have what it takes to make it through the initial rounds of eliminations, the contestants will be faced with a different theme in each episode, while the architects shuffle them to find the best combination of voices to perform live for America. Architects will then critique each band's performance and collectively determine two contestants who are up for elimination. After performing solo "survival" songs, viewers at home will vote for their favorite to remain in the competition. In the finale, America's favorite five band members are announced, and they perform their brand-new single together for the first time.
On Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the season finale of BOY BAND. In the season ender, the final eight contestants learn their fate as America's top five vocalists are revealed. After proving week after week that they have what it takes to become a part of America's next great boy band, the winning five are awarded with a recording contract with Hollywood Records and perform their new single "Eyes Closed." Plus, the finale features performances by Bell Biv Devoe, Sofia Carson, James Arthur, and more.
