Plot Synopsis

BORN IN THE WILD documents the journeys of young, expectant parents who have chosen to to experience childbirth in the great outdoors. For expecting mothers and fathers in their third trimester of pregnancy, things couldn't get much wilder. From the mood swings and false alarms to the crazy food cravings, learning to expect the unexpected becomes a way of life in the final days leading up to birth. But this series reveals what happens when the craziest experience of a woman's life becomes truly wild, and soon-to-be parents decide to take on an unassisted birth in the outdoors with no inductions and no epidurals -- just expectant mothers facing and giving birth in the arms of Mother Nature. They take on the unique challenges of their natural environment, tackling every obstacle the wilderness can dish out in order to realize their dream of an outdoor birth. Each episode of this series follows a different set of expectant parents, including Audrey and Peter Bird from Lake Minchumina, AK, who gave birth to their third child, Piper Lillian, in the wild.
