Plot Synopsis

Starring and executive produced by Rashida Jones and series creator Kenya Barris, #BLACKAF is a comedy series that follows a black family that navigates relationships, race and culture while grappling with their newfound success. The series opens with Drea shooting a documentary for her NYU application, where she introduces her unfiltered family and Kenya considers toning down his "flexing" around white people. Then, on a parents' night out, Kenya and Joya party a little too hard while at the same music festival as Chloe, whose appearance doesn't sit well with Kenya. Barris plays a fictionalized version of himself in this series, which features guest stars Ava DuVernay, Will Packer, Tyler Perry, Issa Rae, Tim Story and Lena Waithe, who all appear as themselves. On Friday, April 17, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the entire eight-episode first season of #BLACKAF.
