Plot Synopsis

THE BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS honor the best in music, originally based on the year-end charts of the music trade publication "Billboard" magazine. Now, finalists are based on key fan interactions with music, including album, single and digital sales, airplay, touring, streaming and social interactions on MySpace, Facebook and many of the other most popular online destinations for music. This event was first telecast in 1990 on FOX and held annually in December through 2006. After more than a four-year layoff, THE BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS returned in 2011 to air annually in May on ABC ever since.
