Plot Synopsis

BIG BAD BUGS is the name informally used by Nat Geo Wild in a press mailing for a collection of three one-hour nature specials: ANT EMPIRE; DRAGONFLY; and BIG BAD BUGS. ANT EMPIRE reveals the secrets of these social insects, which thrive right below our feet, including how they support 100 times their own weight and run massive distances. Dragonflies came into existence 100 million years before dinosaurs, and DRAGONFLY uses super-slow-motion shots and computer animation to uncover the secrets of these jewels in the sky. Finally, the BIG BAD BUGS special unveils how and why tiny and insignificant bugs -- beetles, grasshoppers, caterpillars and more -- have become so successful. Nat Geo Wild premiered these three specials from 8-11pm ET/PT on Sunday, June 22, 2014.
