Plot Synopsis

BID AMERICA documents the buying and selling at Rich Penn Auctions, where almost 1,500 items were sold in three days, while telling the unique stories of the merchandise and the sellers. Each 30-minute episode focuses on a different seller, including: Bob Evans, who sold his fantastic collection of immaculately restored cars -- A '55 Chevy, '33 Chevy 5-window coupe, '56 Packard 400 Caribbean and '51 Packard 400; the late Arthur Nelson, whose most treasured items were sold, including early 20th-century toys, Civil War firearms and an 18th-century Samurai Warrior armor set; Desmond, the world's premier neon sign collector, who sells a portion of his collection -- starting from the 1940s right up to today's beer and soft drink signs; Wayne 'Woody' Woodrum, the prime source for parts for light-up and neon clocks, sells part of his collection from the '30s, '40s and '50s; Jim and Linda Caldwell, the epitome of antique toy hoarders, who sells part of their collection because of Jim's health; Paul Mikkelson, who sells his classic and antique boats, motors, and items from boating history to finance his wife's medical needs; Ryan and Sarah King, who sell part of the Rock & Roll memorabilia from the '60s through the '90s as they struggle through a painful divorce; and many other sellers taking part in the Penn May auction in Wilmar, Minnesota.
