Plot Synopsis

Food Network stars and celebrity chefs reveal their favorite foods and recipes, featuring dishes they eat in their free time -- when they're paying. THE BEST THING I EVER ATE is the ultimate guide to the country's most-amazing meals, eats and treats as told by the pros who spend their lives obsessing over food. Each episode has its own theme: BBQ; fried foods; foods with bacon; and more. THE BEST THING I EVER ATE returned for a new season on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Cooking Channel. The season opener, "Chicago," features the Windy City, which may be famous for its architecture, but the series is dere for the food! Chicago has a deep love for Gino's deep dish pizza, and the pork rinds at Publican are some of the best ever. And who doesn't love a hot dog? The classic Chicago Dog at Weiner Circle can't be topped. And in a city where the river turns green, don't be surprised to find that some of the best chocolate is white! Season 8 premiered on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Cooking Channel. In the season opener, "Worth the Wait," some things in life are worth standing in line for, and we're sharing the foods we think are worth the wait. Alton Brown talks up his favorite beef Wellington, while Jamika Pessoa melts over buttery biscuits. Chef Beau MacMillan says there's nothing worth waiting for more than Tratto's pasta in Phoenix, and Duff Goldman is okay with waiting in line for hours at this special hot chicken joint. After a two-month break, THE BEST THING I EVER ATE returned with new episodes on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT on Cooking Channel. This new episode, "High Steaks," pays tribute to the best styles, cuts and steakhouses serving up the best steaks. Chef Jonathon Sawyer takes viewers on a trip to Dayton for a ribeye cut so incredibly, it's fit for a king. Jernard Wells travels down to Atlanta for the best of both worlds -- the sea and land -- in a surf-and-turf combo of steak and shrimp. And Duff Goldman drools over a butter steak that melts in your mouth ... like butter!

Season 11 of THE BEST THING I EVER ATE premiered on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT. In the season opener, "Desert Island Dish," the chefs and foodies are stranded on a desert island with nothing but an appetite, and they're sharing the one dish they simply can't live without. Duff Goldman turns to an irresistible doughnut from Baltimore's Paradise Donuts, Alex Guarnaschelli brings along her must-have paella from Black Bull in Chicago, and Wolfgang Puck chooses one dessert above all others from Angelini Osteria in Los Angeles.

On Monday, February 10, 2020 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, Cooking Channel premiered "Buttered Up," the Season 11 finale of THE BEST THING I EVER ATE. It's official: Everything is better with butter! Chefs and food experts are revealing the richest, creamiest buttery dishes out there. Alex Guarnaschelli brings on the butter with a one-of-a-kind shrimp-and-grits combo from Tillie's in Short Hills, New Jersey. Jeff Mauro hits the streets of Chicago to satisfy his butter craving with an amazing honey butter chicken sandwich from the aptly named restaurant Honey Butter Fried Chicken. Then Marc Murphy travels north to Eventide Oyster Co. in Portland, Maine, for a signature buttered delight.
