Plot Synopsis

BECOMING is a half-hour series of specials that chronicle the stories of top athletes, focusing on their early lives to inspire young boys and girls to overcome obstacles while pursuing their dreams. The athletes, along with those close to them, including lifelong friends, mentors, teammates and former coaches, share candid memories with their young fans. Each 30-minute episode features a different sports superstar, including LeBron James in the show's pilot episode. Filmed in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, BECOMING: LEBRON JAMES includes rarely seen footage from James' earliest days in sports, including the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) where he played youth basketball for the Northeast Ohio Shooting Stars, as well as his record-setting days at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School where he garnered worldwide attention. On Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 5:30 and 8pm ET/PT, Disney first aired BECOMING as a half-hour special, which also served as a sneak-peek/pilot episode of the series.

On Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 7pm ET/PT, Disney XD broadcast the official series premiere of BECOMING, featuring the aspirational story of young American soccer superstar and Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan. Highlighted by never-before-seen footage of Alex as a young girl and aspiring superstar, the episode spotlights her commitment to her sport, the obstacles she overcame and the career-defining moments as she rose to the top. From the day she first decided to start playing soccer to her team's recent victory at the 2015 FIFA Women's World, viewers get an intimate look at her ascension to one of the best to play the game. Subsequent episodes will feature Chris Paul (Los Angeles Clippers), CC Sabathia (New York Yankees), Henrik Lundqvist (New York Rangers) and Tim Howard (United States men's soccer team; Everton Football Club)

BECOMING returned for a second batch of 10 episodes on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Disney+ released all 10 episodes of the new season. Again executive produced by LeBron James & Maverick Carter, Season 2 of BECOMING continues to chronicle the inspirational life stories of world-class entertainers, musicians and athletes. Each episode follows a different celebrity back to their hometown as they revisit memorable locations that were central to their upbringing. Family members, coaches, teachers, mentors, and close friends share significant, personal memories of the subjects before they hit it big. These rarely heard stories provide an intimate look into the central moments in each star's journey towards becoming who they are today. Season 2 features Anthony Davis, Colbie Caillat, Adam Devine, Candace Parker, Nick Kroll, Ashley Tisdale, Caleb McLaughlin, Rob Gronkowski, Nick Cannon, and Julianne Hough.
