Plot Synopsis

This one-hour reality series follows survivalist Bear Grylls, who relives the journeys of ordinary people stranded in devastatingly dire situations, while revealing how to survive in some of the world's most desolate landscapes. Coupled with archival footage and interviews with the survivors, Bear pits himself against the very same dangers and scenarios in BEAR GRYLLS: ESCAPE FROM HELL. From avalanches to dangerous river crossings to ferocious sand storms, Bear risks his life by trekking in the shoes of these survivors, analyzing and dissecting the survival techniques they employed and providing expert advice and tips for the best possible survival strategy. Each landscape -- snow, desert, jungle, canyons and mountains -- presents its own unique set of challenges, but they also share universal themes of survival: hydration, shelter, warmth, food and navigation. In each 60-minute episode, Bear travels to a different part of the world, including: Canada's snow-covered Pacific Coast mountains near Whistler, BC; a remote Guatemalan jungle; Morocco's searing Sahara Desert; a dramatic canyon in North Africa; and the Dolomites mountain range in Italy. In the United States, Discovery aired a sneak-peek episode of this series on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, followed two days later by the official U.S. series premiere on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT.
