Plot Synopsis

In this three-part program, Dr. Philip Plait -- best known as the author of "Death from the Skies!" and "Bad Astronomy" -- debunks the junk science and reveals the truth about how the universe could destroy Earth. Since movies, TV shows, and books have played fast and loose with apocalyptic facts, most of what we think we know is actually wrong. The Bad Astronomer wants to change that. In each episode, he dissects issues in astronomy and science, putting these end-of-the-world claims to the test and showing viewers what really happens (or not) by blowing things up, flying in a jet, and participating in experiments with experts from around the world.
