Plot Synopsis

When Terry, a recently divorced single mother, and her son, Danny, move in with her estranged father, a former pro baseball player known as The Cannon, she reluctantly agrees to coach a baseball team full of misfit boys. The Cannon is a beer-swilling ex-athlete, who wasn't there for Terry when she needed him, and she's not going to make the same mistake with her son, even though she already has three strikes against her: a baby that derailed her softball career; a lost college scholarship; and a loser husband. Because of her bad experiences with sports, she vows to keep Danny away from them, especially baseball, which isn't a bad idea considering he doesn't even know which hand to wear a baseball glove. But when Danny tries out for a team -- and doesn't make the cut -- he and other athletically-challenged boys still want to play baseball, and they form their own team when a wealthy neighbor picks up the tab. All they need now is a manager... ABC aired the series premiere of BACK IN THE GAME on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 8:30pm ET/PT.
