Plot Synopsis

"45,000 miles, 159 days, 16 countries, 4 continents and ZERO dollars." That pretty much says it all. Alex Boylan -- winner of The Amazing Race (Cycle 2) -- starts in New York City with absolutely no cash. His goal is simple. He wants to travel around the world (with no crew except for one cameraman, Zsolt Luka) while using the internet to cultivate an online community to help him on his journey. During their sojourn, they travel through countries such as Cambodia, Kenya, Peru, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad and Vietnam. Every so often Alex does need to take a job to earn some quick cash -- washing hair at a hairdressing school or harvesting bananas in rural South Africa -- but he mostly relies on the kindness of strangers. His internet connections become online guides, local helpers, production assistants, hosts, and generous benefactors. Most of all, they become friends. Since Alex travels lightly, he and Zsolt can transmit images from locations nobody else could enter. And they travel lightly, allowing them to take almost any means of transportation. Doesn't matter if it's by plane, train, and automobile, or by bus, hitchhiking, walking, jet skiing, and even paragliding. They'll take anything that's free. While filming, Alex presented live weekly videoconferences on the "CBS Early Show."
