Plot Synopsis

Did aliens visit Earth during ancient times and change the course of history? This program goes around the world to uncover historic evidence, archaeological artifacts, long-standing traditions and legendary narratives to determine whether aliens were on Earth, where they came from, what they did while they were here and whether they plan to come back. Learn about the Dogon people's star god Amma, the Kachinas of the Hopi and Zuni, the Han leader of Chinese legends and the Anunnaki described in ancient Sumerian tablets.

ANCIENT ALIENS returned for its sixth season on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on History, with the season opener exploring the power of the number three and asking whether all the trios and trinities embedded throughout the mythical and religious world suggest that the power of three might somehow connect humanity with divine or, as some would believe, extraterrestrial forces. Later Season 6 episodes cover these topics: The Crystal Skulls; giant, winged gods called The Anunnaki; the role of magic in the ancient world; and the legend that Satan was an extraterrestrial.

H2 debuted the Season 7 premiere of ANCIENT ALIENS on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT. The first episode back, "Aliens and Stargates," chronicled otherworldly creatures that appear and disappear in Mexico, and also documented sacred entryways to the land of the gods that allow instant passage beyond the confines of Earth a-- and beyond space and time. Subsequent Season 7 episodes explored these topics: star children; strange rock carvings from 8,000 B.C.; a frightening anomaly plaguing the American west; and many more strange and unexplained phenomena.

ANCIENT ALIENS returned for its ninth season on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on H2. In the Season 9 opener, "Forbidden Caves," some caves have been considered sacred places for spiritual encounter and enlightenment, while others have been feared as true portals to purgatory. In Charma, India, archeologists recently discovered 10,000 year-old prehistoric artwork of what appears to be extraterrestrial beings. Could these paintings be a visual record of alien encounters in the distant past?

Season 10 of ANCIENT ALIENS premiered on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on History. The season opener, "Aliens B.C.," features enormous manmade caves...Unexplainable structures... And underwater discoveries that challenge everything we know about the past...Is it possible that an advanced civilization inhabited Earth thousands of years ago? And if so, were they human, or something out of this world? Modern archaeologists are continuously unearthing artifacts and sites that defy the conventional timeline of human history. Throughout the world we find megalithic stone monuments that are attributed to mysterious ancestors, strange humanoid figures that date to pre-historic times, and evidence of ancient underground shelters hewn out of solid rock. The eleventh season of ANCIENT ALIENS premiered on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on History, immediately following an 11-hour marathon (10am-9pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "Pyramids of Antarctica," Antarctica is Earth's most remote and least explored continent. It is buried under as much as three miles of ice in some places, but recent satellite imagery has revealed what appear to be the tops of man-made pyramids scattered throughout the ice-covered landscape. But how is that possible? Ancient Astronaut theorists suggest that an ice-free Antarctica may have been colonized by extraterrestrials in the remote past, until a global catastrophe plunged it into the ice age. Is there a greater history on the continent than what mainstream scholars suggest? Scientists have reported strange magnetic anomalies radiating from beneath the ice, the Nazis allegedly made secret expeditions to the continent in search of a lost civilization, and government whistleblowers have come forward with claims of strange sightings. On Friday, April 28, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT, History premiered the twelfth season of ANCIENT ALIENS, immediately following a nine-hour marathon (Noon-9pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "The Alien Hunters," in the 21st century, mainstream scholars, scientists, and world governments have for the first time openly joined the hunt for intelligent life beyond Earth. But while such an effort has never been made public before, in reality, the search for proof of extraterrestrial life has been underway for decades. Starting around 1947, a series of unexplained sightings and mysterious events forced certain high-level members within the US government to officially become alien hunters. Projects Sign, Grudge, and Bluebook were government programs to research UFO sightings--and by some accounts, literally hundreds of the reported events were unable to be explained. Ancient Astronaut theorists suggest there is evidence that similar endeavors were even made thousands of years ago, sighting ancient astronomical observatories found all over the world, and new evidence that Babylonians were tracking the movements of the planets over 2,000 years ago.

Season 13 of ANCIENT ALIENS premiered on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 9-11pm ET/PT on History. Lead expert Giorgio Tsoukalos joins Ancient Astronaut theorists, David Hatcher Childress, William Henry, Linda Moulton Howe, Erich von Daniken and many others being interviewed, as this season travels to over a dozen countries to explore firsthand signs of ancient alien visitation. On the island of Sardinia, Italy, ancient statues of giants with alien features are shown to the public for the first time; hidden messages are uncovered in the artwork of Leonardo da Vinci and strange alien-looking statues are explored on the Marquesa islands of the South Pacific. The two-hour season opener, "The UFO Conspiracy," chronicles new information after the Department of Defense revealed in 2017 that it recently spent millions investigating reports of UFOs. This is the latest disclosure about a series of secret government UFO projects dating back decades, but many of their findings have never been released to the public. Could the truth about an extraterrestrial presence on Earth be part of a UFO Conspiracy?

On Friday, May 31, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, History premiered the fourteenth season of ANCIENT ALIENS, immediately following an all-day marathon (7am-9pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "Return to Antarctica," has Antarctica served as a home base for extraterrestrial visitors to Earth for thousands of years? As human exploration of the frozen continent increases, are we about to come face to face with both the ruins of an ancient advanced civilization buried under the ice--and perhaps even aliens that still inhabit the frozen continent to this day?

Season 15 of ANCIENT ALIENS premiered on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on History Channel. In "The Mystery of Nan Madol," the season opener, Giorgio Tsoukalos and David Childress explore the mysterious chain of manmade islets in Micronesia's Nan Madol. Built from a staggering 250 million tons of volcanic rock, could the local legends be true--that strange visitors floated the massive rocks through the air? And might the site's powerful magnetic anomalies be the result of extraterrestrial technology? Then, the following week in "The Relics of Roswell," in 1947 the U.S. military collected the debris of what they claimed was a crashed weather balloon outside of Roswell, New Mexico. But new evidence may prove the conspiracy theorists right -- that the wreckage actually belonged to an extraterrestrial spacecraft. If true, could remnants of it still exist that the recovery teams overlooked?

ANCIENT ALIENS returned for its sixteenth season on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on History Channel, immediately following an all-day marathon (7am-9pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "The Divine Number," in numerous sacred traditions, the number twelve holds a divine significance. It can be found repeated in ancient architecture, groups of twelve wisdom keepers, and even the latest scientific principles. Could this divine number be part of an alien code left for humanity to decipher?

History Channel premiered Season 17 of ANCIENT ALIENS on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT, immediately following an all-day marathon (7am-9pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "The Lost City of Peru," the South American nation of Peru is famous for its megalithic ruins, colossal geoglyphs, and the Incan civilization. It's one of the most mysterious places on Earth -- but could it also be a site of extraterrestrial visitation? Ancient astronaut theorist Giorgio A. Tsouklas, author David Childress, and investigative William Henry examine a recently discovered "lost city" in Peru that has upended the historical timeline of South America, revealing that civilization emerged here thousands of years earlier than previously thought. The 18th season of ANCIENT ALIENS debuted on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on History Channel. In the season opener, "The Disclosure Event," in 2021, the United States government broke a 70-year precedent of denying UFOs and released a groundbreaking report on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. On Friday, March 15, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT, History Channel premiered "Mystery of the Stone Spheres," the Season 20 finale of ANCIENT ALIENS.
