Plot Synopsis

Created by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, AMERICAN VANDAL is a half-hour, true-crime mockumentary series that chronicles the story of high-school class clown Dylan Maxwell, who is a convenient suspect when an act of vandalism rocks a suburban high school. Dylan insists he's innocent of this shocking -- and hilarious -- crime, so an aspiring sophomore documentarian, Peter Maldonado, sets out to find the truth by investigating the controversial and potentially unjust expulsion of the troubled senior. Did Dylan vandalize 27 faculty cars with phallic images? Or was he set up? Early in the investigation, it's revealed that key witness Alex Trimboli's account of the incident comes under fire when other students doubt his boasts of drunkenness and sexual exploits. After the documentary goes viral, Peter deals with publicity and sorts through various fan theories. Video evidence from a party provides new clues. Netflix released the entire eight-episode first season of AMERICAN VANDAL on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT.
