Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Dave Styles, AMERICAN SUPERGROUP is a one-hour music competition series that showcases the creation and evolution of a new band in the United States. Guided by a panel of music experts, 25 finalists are selected to form five groups of five members each -- best guitarist, best drummer, best bass player, best keyboards, and best vocalist. Even though they might specialize in one aspect of the band, each contestant must be a monster vocalist, a master musician and an accomplished songwriter. Musical genres can be, but are not limited to, Pop, Pop-Country, Traditional Country, Pop-Rock, R&B, Metal, Latin American, Alternative. The four judges, all singer/songwriters, are: pop/soul artist Aloe Blacc, rock/blues artist Elle King, country superstar Jennifer Nettles and classic rock icon Jason Scheff, lead singer/bass player for Chicago.

After its November 22nd episode on Pop, AMERICAN SUPERGROUP took a scheduled week off, giving fans two weeks to vote for their two favorite groups from the four remaining bands: Out of Focus, Pocket Change, Royal Parkway, and Banzhoff. But the series did not return for its scheduled finale on Pop on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, as announced on the AMERICAN SUPERGROUP Facebook page one week earlier.
