Plot Synopsis

With degrees in urban planning, Jason Wilson and Bernice Radle buy a vacant Buffalo home at auction and save it from demolition. Then they get down and dirty to do the renovations themselves, restoring this old home on 19th Street on the West Side of The City of Good Neighbors. After buying this 1910 house at auction for $16,000, Jason and Bernice start with the kitchen and dining room, tearing down walls to create an open space with more windows, reclaimed wainscoting and a re-purposed kitchen island. While renovating the living room, Jason and Bernice encounter massive issues. Then, they add historic details, such as leaded glass windows, columns, wainscoting, and a gingerbread-style transom between the living and dining rooms. The couple moves the master bedroom from the front of the house to the back, creating a bright, bold and colorful space with historic details while capitalizing on the city's eclectic design style. Drawing inspiration from the city's arts community, Jason and Bernice create unique installations in the attic, including a storage unit made from old crates, then the couple paints the exterior of their home a contrasting teal and orange. Then, the couple finishes the job by reviving the backyard, adding a pergola-covered dining area, a deck and a fence made out of salvaged doors. DIY Network premiered this series on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 9pm-Midnight ET/PT, showing all six episodes back to back.
