Plot Synopsis

Starring WWE superstar John Cena, AMERICAN GRIT is a military-inpsired competition series that follows 16 of America's toughest men and women who are split into four teams, and faced with an assortment of military-level survival challenges in the Pack Forest of Eatonville, WA. Cena and an elite group of mentors from the nation's most exclusive military units push these civilians beyond their limits. The mentors, known as "The Cadre," include Rorke Denver, Noah Galloway, Tawanda "Tee" Hanible and Nick "The Reaper" Irving. These real-life heroes, who represent diverse backgrounds and top branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, impart their first-hand knowledge and experience to help the competitors work together as teams to surmount near-impossible mental and physical challenges. AMERICAN GRIT embodies the military ethos "no man left behind," because only the first team to complete the challenges together is safe from elimination. Each episode culminates in "The Circus," a punishing, endurance-based obstacle course designed to break the weakest competitors. With up to a million dollars of prize money at stake, this is the ultimate test of strength, grit, the human spirit and, most importantly, teamwork. On Sunday, June 11, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, FOX premiered the second season of AMERICAN GRIT, as John Cena welcomes 17 new competitors -- who either have lost their grit or never had it -- to sunny Hampton Island, GA. There, Cena and a brand-new group of mentors, known as "The Cadre," live alongside these men and women at Camp Grit, where the drama quickly heats up. They take these competitors under their wings as they lead them through all-new team and individual challenges. In the end, only one individual will win a quarter of a million dollars, but hopefully, all of them will find their grit. This season, The Cadre includes John Burk, an Infantry Drill Sergeant with the U.S. Army; Riki Long, a U.S. Marine; Chloe Mondesir, an Ammunition Technician with the U.S. Marines; and Grady Powell, a Green Beret. The Cadre builds their teams and leverages their very different mentoring styles to prove they have what it takes to help their competitors find their grit. It is as tough a competition for The Cadre as it is for the teams, as tensions rise and emotions flare. But there is some fun to be had when the most unlikely personalities are brought together under one roof -- and anything is possible in the Georgia sun.

Season 2 of AMERICAN GRIT concluded on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 8-10pm ET/PT, as FOX premiered back-to-back new episodes. In the two-hour season ender, "Cena Says" and "Who's Got Grit?," After an upsetting elimination, WWE Superstar John Cena decides to spend quality time with the remaining contestants and reveals personal information about himself. During the challenge, contestants are surprised when they discover that they must remember everything John told them in order to win. With a double elimination ahead, the competition is at an all-time high and the final four are revealed. Then, after one contestant is faced with having to decide who leaves the competition, the final three enter the ultimate challenge. While all might have found their grit, only one can walk away with a quarter of a million dollars and be the winner.
