Plot Synopsis

Photographer Matt Hranek travels across the United States, searching for people, places and things that embody the American spirit. Matt created "The William Brown Project" to document his inspirations and collected experiences, while celebrating the old-school, authentic and timeless. Now, this half-hour reality series follows Matt, as he travels to a new location to drive a vintage vehicle and experience the area's true culture and adventure. Each 30-minute episode of ALTERNATE ROUTE features a different location, including: Nashville, where Matt drives around Music City, USA in a '69 Chevy Pickup to taste bourbon made of quinoa, try custom-fit jeans, and drive a stock car; Montauk, where Matt takes a spin through town in a 1987 Porsche to look inside a clam-shack kitchen and spend a day on a commercial-fishing trawler; Charleston, SC, where Matt visits one of the nation's largest flea markets and spends time with an award-winning bartender; The Everglades, where Matt drives a '75 Ford Bronco, while learning to frog hunt at night, having a close encounter with wildlife, and going tarpon fishing with Hall-of-Fame guide Steve Huff; Chicago, where Matt enjoys hot dogs for all three meals, gets outfitted for a jacket by a legendary Italian tailor, and finds a store with Boy Scout mugs; and Maryland, where Matt takes out a classic 1950s MG to explore The Old Line State's shoreline, while trotlining for blue crab and meeting with men who build boats the same way they did in the Revolutionary War.
