Plot Synopsis

Executive produced by series star Zach Braff, ALEX, INC. is a half-hour comedy series, based on Alex Blumberg's podcast, "StartUp," that tells the story of a journalist and family man who quits his job to start his own company. Alex Schuman is a successful radio producer with a whip-smart, public defender wife, Meheroon, and two confident, quirky children, Ben and Soraya. After years of making the kind of content that brings no creative fulfillment, in what most would consider an early mid-life crisis, Alex decides to risk everything -- including his savings -- to start his own podcast company, telling real stories that matter. Armed only with the help of his overenthusiastic producer, Deirdre, and his fast-talking, unemployed second cousin, Eddie, Alex navigates the crazy world of start-ups while trying to keep his marriage and family a priority, while sometimes mixing business and pleasure -- like when his son, Ben, takes up guitar playing and is determined to score music for the podcast.
On Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 8:30pm ET/PT, ABC premiered "The Rube Goldberg Contraption," the series finale of ALEX, INC., with Natalie Morales guest starring. After a company offers Alex money to expand the business, he worries his business is ruining his relationship with Rooni and the children and makes an important decision about the future. And with the future looking bright for the company, Deirdre and Eddie bring on a famous podcast producer. Also guest starring are Sam Lloyd as Dr. Gibbs, Dean Cameron as Bruce, Hank Chen as Dale, Mike Truesdale as Mr. Durham, Charlie Catrina as Greg, Symera Jackson as Smart Girl and Keanu Beausier as Waiter.
