This Sunday night, September 18, 2016 LIVE from 5-8pm PT / 8-11pm ET on ABC, television celebrates its best and brightest when the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences hands out its golden trophies at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Hosting the festivities this year is late-night host Jimmy Kimmel who is helming the Primetime Emmy telecast for the second time. (He also hosted in 2012.) GAME OF THRONES is once again the most nominated series with 23 nominations, while VEEP secured the most comedy nominations with 17 and THE PEOPLE VS. O.J. SIMPSON: AMERICAN CRIME STORY secured the most limited series nominations with 22.

  • E! COUNTDOWN TO THE RED CARPET - The 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards: E! hosts Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski, Ross Mathews, and Kristin Dos Santos provide viewers the ultimate guide to Emmy night. Also FULLER HOUSE star Jodie Sweetin, as well as Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan of E!'s TOTAL BELLAS, will drop by to weigh in on all the year's unforgettable TV moments and fashion favorites. Airs live from 1:30 – 3pm PT / 4:30 – 6pm ET on E!

  • E! LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET - The 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards: E!'s Giuliana Rancic and Jason Kennedy bring fans memorable and authentic interviews with TV's biggest stars and Emmy nominees. The coverage will offer an up close look at the fashion via E!'s "Glambot" and over 20 cameras covering every angle of the event, while delivering all of the spontaneous pop culture moments fans don't want to miss. Ross Mathews and Zuri Hall will report live from E!'s exclusive position at the limo arrivals. The popular "E! Glambot," will capture one of a kind red carpet moments in a breathtaking and innovative way - by creating detailed and visually stunning living portraits of the stars in real-time.   • People & EW Red Carpet Live: Time Inc.'s People and Entertainment Weekly will host a bi-coastal live, red carpet streaming pre-show on the television industry's biggest night beginning at 6:00 PM ET/3:00 PM PT from Los Angeles and New York. People Now's Jeremy Parsons and Andrea Boehlke will host the streaming pre-show from their New York studios, while People deputy editor JD Heyman and Associated Press correspondent Alicia Quarles will report live from the Emmys red carpet in Los Angeles. The pre-show will stream for two hours on the People/Entertainment Weekly Network (PEN) free app, People.com, and EW.com. In addition, the pre-show can also be streamed on InStyle.com, Essence.com, and Time.com. The pre-show's hosts and correspondents will be socialing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat throughout the evening using the hashtag #EmmysLive.   • ABC Countdown to the Emmy Awards- Red Carpet Live: Hosted by GOOD MORNING AMERICA co-anchor Lara Spencer and ABC's THE BACHELOR host Chris Harrison. They will be joined by ABC News Correspondent Rachel Smith, ESPN host Michelle Beadle, along with Fashion Contributor Tim Gunn. Airs live from 4 – 5pm PT / 7 – 8pm ET on ABC.

FIRST TIME EMMY AWARDS ARE TELEVISED NATIONALLY

  • On Monday, March 7, 1955, the Seventh Annual Emmy Awards are broadcast nationally on NBC from the Moulin Rouge in Hollywood and Nino's LaRue in New York.

• This is the first year a plethora of herbs (including French lavender and rosemary) will be added to floral arrangements
• Custom-made birch paper will wrap the vases, made from 100% very thinly “sliced” real wood
• Over 10,000 yards of fabric will comprise the 800 guest tables and 8,000 napkins total
• Over 3,700 total hours of design and preparation are required to produce these linens
• Fabrics are a mix of soft, neutral tones such as mushroom, taupe, buff, and champagne with touches of sequin mesh, metallic silks and floral sequin organza
• Over one-half mile of steel tubing and 86 wheels will be used in the center stage turntable
• 2,700 yards of fabric will cover the ceiling beams and 1,000 yards of black fabric will cover the truss structure
• 7,500 cable ties will secure all the black fabric in the room
• 17.5 miles of black thread will be used
• More than 250 curtain clips will secure the seams of the star drop drape panels
