Plot Synopsis

After a hugely successful debut novel, Stewart Paylor is supposed to be delivering chapters of his new book. Unbeknownst to everyone around him, including Cynthia his literary agent/girlfriend, he is suffering from a bad case of writer's block and has not written a word. His life goes even further astray when he returns home from a vacation to find a homeless mother at her breaking point -- Cassandra, and her two children, 12-year-old Jake and 9-year-old Vera, have been squatting in his house with nowhere to go. He begrudgingly lets them stay for a night but wants them gone. He soon hears their story about how they became homeless and thinks he could turn it into his next book. When Cassandra finds out, she feels betrayed and used, thinking he really cared about them. Angry, she takes the kids and leaves. Eventually Stewart realizes what a profound impact they had on his life and does everything he can to find them and bring them home.
