Plot Synopsis
Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play by August Wilson. In 1936, a black farmer travels from the cotton fields of Mississippi to Pittsburgh to cajole his hostile sister into selling a family heirloom so he can buy the land his family once worked on as slaves. A tumultuous battle ensues when his sibling refuses to let go of the ornately carved piano that has been in the family for 130 years and symbolizes her history and heritage.
