Plot Synopsis

When devoted, overprotective mom Rebecca Mayer drives her 17-year-old daughter Conner to college, she notices a man following their car, but things are not what they seem -- her daughter was actually murdered five years ago. Refusing to accept her death in any way, Rebecca went on a killing spree, believing in her delusions that her daughter was in constant danger. She was eventually caught and sentenced to an institution for the criminally insane. Now, exactly five years to the date of Conner's death, she escapes the mental hospital. She is deeply disturbed and violent and is once again making the streets safe for Conner. As the body count mounts, Sheriff Emily Tobin is determined to bring her down. Emily balances the case with the task of keeping her rebellious, junior crime-buff daughter, Molly, in check. But it is her daughter's computer savvy, coupled with Emily's sharp skills as a detective, that helps the sheriff stay on the case even after the State Patrol, led by Detective Jesse Roan, takes over. The mother-daughter team keeps the detectives one step closer to catching the killer.
