Plot Synopsis
Based on the book The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare. In 1768 Massachusetts, a father and his 13 year old son trek to Maine to find better land and build a cabin. When the work is completed, the young man is left alone while his dad goes and fetches the rest of the clan. He soon finds himself near death after a nasty fall, only to be rescued by a elderly Penobscot Indian who wants the lad to teach his grandson English. Meanwhile the rest of family suffers through a typhoid epidemic before they are able to reunite in the new homestead.
