Plot Synopsis
From the 1940's to 1960's Harlem politician and former Baptist minister Adam Clayton Powell Jr. tirelessly represented his constituents as the second African American to be elected to Congress. Although he encountered racism and segregation he was able to pass an unprecedented amount of progressive social legislation. With his enemies conspiring against and his powerful career rocked by scandal he withdraws to Bimini Island after House members vote to deny him his congressional seat.
