Plot Synopsis
In 1998, in the small Texas town of Jasper, an African-American, James Byrd Jr. was chained to the back of a pick-up truck and dragged to his death by three racist white men. The shocking event thrust the community into the blinding glare of the media spotlight. The white sheriff, Billy Rowles and R.C. Horn, the first black mayor of Jasper, struggle to maintain control of their town and their own personal emotions as racial tensions mount.
