Plot Synopsis
The life of the legendary singer, dancer and actress from the height of her career in the 40's and 50's to her untimely death at age 42 in 1965. She made history by becoming the first black woman to be nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in ''Carmen Jones''. She also fought heartache over two failed marriages, the institutionalization of her only child and a drug dependency.
