Plot Synopsis
Based on the Short Story by Anthony DiFranco. In 1944, a priest in an Italian village is paralyzed by fear when his town is occupied by the Germans. He is sustained by his friendship with a woman, a member of the Resistance, who is captured while taking a message to the USA army--a mission the cleric was too cowardly to complete. As her execution nears, the clergyman is called to hear her final confession. Knowing he is responsible for her plight he finds the courage to help her escape while he stays behind, enabling him to perform the ultimate act of redemption.
