Plot Synopsis

Widower Ben Westman barely knows his two kids, 12-year-old Lindsay and eight-year-old Dylan. As a busy advertising executive, he hires housekeepers to keep things running smoothly at home. That all changes when he loses his job and is forced to fire his help and become a stay-at-home dad. Completely unprepared, he makes a mess of the cooking and cleaning, and discovers his children have been growing up without him. He faces the challenge of reconnecting with his children while mourning the loss of both his wife and his career. Eventually, he gets the hang of things with the help of his brother and Dylan's attractive teacher, Hope. As he spends more time with his kids and gets to know Hope better, he finds out being a stay-at-home dad isn't so bad. But then, a great interview lands Ben a job offer in Cleveland, and he must ultimately decide what is best not just for himself, but also for his family.
