Plot Synopsis
Based on the classic by Fyodor Dostoevsky. In 1856, a poor Russian student turns to a local pawnbroker when he is in desperate need of money. She gives him a hardly nothing for his possessions which leads him to believe she's evil--then kills her and her sister with an ax. The inspector assigned to the case doggedly tracks him down and eventually breaks his will and forces him to confess.
