Plot Synopsis

Grace, a teenage Appalachian mountain girl, is determined to pursue her dreams of becoming a country star even though her mother is dead set against it. During Christmas vacation, she travels to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to enter a singing competition, hosted by Dolly Parton. She reunites with her estranged, musician father and soon uncovers the musical legacy of African Americans in the world of country music. The song she sings in the contest -- and its powerful message -- move her separated parents to reevaluate what's truly important in life and, together, fulfill their daughter's wishes of a happy family.
