Plot Synopsis
Based on the novel by Kaye Gibbons. In a rural North Carolina during the Depression and WWII, three generations of women led by a strong-minded and opinionated matriarch defy traditional gender roles. Grandma challenges the conventional health care system with her own brand of non-traditional healing while her daughter marries a divorced man and her college age granddaughter falls for a wounded soldier .
