Plot Synopsis

Based on the short story by Louisa May Alcott. In the 1880's the 17 year-year-old daughter of a widow struggling to provide for her family goes behind her mother's back and contacts her estranged wealthy grandmother, begging for financial help. When the high-society matriarch shows up, the family is forced to confront their anger, deep-seated emotional wounds and long held resentment. In the midst of this family drama, the teen is torn among love and duty to her mother and siblings, a deepening romance with her boyfriend, and the wonderfully textured life offered by her wealthy, wise grandmother.
