Plot Synopsis

Fearing harm to her unborn child, a woman suffering from manic-depression discontinues taking her lithium and soon begins experiencing drastic mood swings. Unable to manage her bipolar disorder, she is confined to a psych hospital were she becomes psychotic and violent. Her doctor, concerned for her safety, orders an abortion, which her reluctant husband agrees to. Her best friend demands a competency hearing, in which the judge finds for the rights of the mother to continue her pregnancy. The baby is born healthy, Mom resumes medication and all is well.
